The incident, recorded by the girl's father, ends with the girl saying to her father that Carragher's spittle had hit her in the face and was obtained by the Mirror.

Carragher tweeted, "Totally out of order & Ive apologised personally to all the family this evening".

Carragher, being goaded by a Man United fan in a vehicle, was filmed opening his window and spitting towards the shocked supporter and his daughter.

Newspapers in Spain have gaffed by identifying Vinnie's "teenage daughter" as the youngster Carragher spat at - and the ex-footballer-turned actor as the man who filmed the shock incident.

The fallout from Jamie Carragher's "moment of madness" continues.

'You can't condone that behaviour.

"The biggest regret, certainly, is for the 14 year old girl to be caught in the middle of this, and my altercation with the father. I'd like to apologise once more to them all". He said he was upset with the father not the daughter.

"I've made mistakes in my 25-year career, but this is the worst one".

Appearing on Sky News just moments after he was suspended by Sky, Carragher was made to watch the footage as he appeared for in a excruciating interview live on the channel.

"It falls well below the standards we expect of our people".

Carragher, who attempted to explain his actions while offering a further public apology on Sky News on Monday, has said that he will accept whatever consequences comes his way.

Following his suspension from Sky Sports, the family have spoken in support of Jamie, and revealed they don't want him to get sacked from his punditry position. "We wanted an apology and explanation".

His wife added: "He did seem extremely sorry".

Jamie Carragher was suspended by Sky Sports on Monday after a video of him spitting at a 14-year-old Manchester United fan went viral. He's massively passionate about football and he's overstepped the mark and shouldn't have reacted.

"I've been on TV for three years with him and imo [in my opinion] this isolated incident shouldn't stop us working together".
