Packers among teams interested in WR Sammy Watkins

The Bears are also believed to have expressed interest in Jaguars wide receiver Allen Robinson, but he is coming off a torn ACL suffered in the season opener previous year. Let the speculation begin. We don't know how they're going to do that just yet, but they're apparently kicking the tires on the two biggest-name free agent receivers, Sammy Watkins and Allen Robinson. According to Spotrac, the Packers now have $38.38 million of the cap committed to their receivers, far and away a league-high. Would signing one of Robinson or Watkins mean that either Jordy Nelson or Randall Cobb could be on their way out? Robinson would likely be the pick of the two, but also probably the most expensive. He came out of the gate rolling in his first two seasons in Buffalo only to have injuries derail his third season before he was sent packing to the Los Angeles Rams a year ago.

Watkins has not played in a full 16 games since his rookie season in 2014.

Meredith, 25, is coming off a torn ACL and partially torn MCL in his left knee suffered last preseason.

The Chiefs might have more holes on defense than offense these days, but the allure of adding a top flight wide receiver to stand opposite Tyreek Hill in the Chiefs shiny new offense is hard to pass up. In 2015 he posted 1,400 yards and 14 touchdowns, and followed it up in 2016 with 883 yards and six scores in a "down year".

Traded to the Rams last season, Watkins produced eight touchdowns and averaged 15.2 yards per catch, although his overall production (39 catches, 70 targets, 593 yards) in Sean McVay's offense was mostly lacking. Much of this was due to former league MVP quarterback Aaron Rodgers being out of the mix for a significant bulk of the season due to a fractured collarbone.
