Meier has taken a six-month leave as a result. In 1984, Meier won the Pritzer Prize, the world's most prestigious award for architecture.

Following the sexual harassment revelations, Cornell University announced it would "decline his new gift to name the chair of the Department of Architecture".

The Getty Center in Los Angeles. "The Getty was deeply dismayed to learn of the serious allegations involving Richard Meier", Ron Hartwig, the Vice President of Communications at the J. Paul Getty Trust, told Hyperallergic in a statement. The Getty is committed to a safe and respectful workplace for all.

A fifth woman, who does not work for the firm, told the newspaper she was forced to flee Meier's home in the 1980s when she said he forcefully pulled her onto a bed. She said the architect tried to kiss her, dragged her down a hallway and then pushed her onto the bed, despite her objections. Lee said Koe described Meier as "always chasing women, and nothing stopped him" and said she once turned down Meier's attempt to come on to her.

In 2009, Meier's then-assistant Laura Trimble Elbogen was 24 and had not yet completed a full work week. The women's claims include inappropriate touching at company functions, requests to undress, and instances of Meier exposing himself. That same year, Meier exposed himself to Alexis Zamlich, a 22-year-old communications assistant at his firm.

Zamlich reported this incident to the management and received a $150,000 settlement that required the company to hold sexual harassment training for its employees, including Meier, The Times reported. Stella Lee told the Times that she arrived at his apartment in 2000 to find her boss wearing only a terry cloth bathrobe that exposed his penis.

Judi Shade Monk told The Times that she was warned "don't stay in the office late by yourself" when she first started at the firm in 2003 at the age of 26.

"I am deeply troubled and embarrassed by the accounts of several women who were offended by my words and actions", Meier said in a statement released by his eponymous firm.

As a result of the claims, Meier will take a leave of absence, leaving four associate partners-Vivian Lee, Reynolds Logan, Bernhard Karpf, and Dukho Yeon-to manage operations at the firm's NY headquarters. Although he has apologized, the reported behavior is unacceptable.

Simitch was expected to join Meier at the March 19 event celebrating the gift, which has been cancelled.

"We will swiftly explore what additional actions are appropriate" regarding previous gifts, Kleinman said. His firm has taken on a number of high-profile projects, including a building for the High Museum of Art and the Barcelona Museum of Contemporary Art.

They all allege various unwanted sexual advances, with one of the women recounting a time when Meier attempted to force himself onto her in Los Angeles in the 1980s.
