Of course, Lollipop and tablet support was explicitly added to the Assistant late past year.

In our APK Insight of the Google app beta on Friday, we spotted Assistant adding new menus for "Purchases" and "Reminders".

While it's a relatively safe assumption that most iPhone and iPad users prefer Siri to other AI assistants, there are always going to be some who are faithful to others. The app has also includes bug fixes and stability improvements "to bring you the best Assistant experience", according to the release notes.

The Google Assistant listing on the Play Store might only be a glorified shortcut, but it's still one avenue for accessing the Assistant on supported devices.

What do you guys think about Google Assistant coming to the iPad? Keep in mind that Apple will only allow a third-party assistant like Google Assistant, Cortana and Alexa to work when the app is open. Other than that, it should be the same Assistant you know and love, capable of controlling your smart home, checking weather, calendar events, plus everything else.

Google Assistant is rolling out to iPads from today, and is available in English, German, French, Japanese, Italian, Brazilian Portuguese and Spanish. The app has been updated to automatically fit all iPad model displays.
