Several Austinites have made the finalist list for the 2018 James Beard Awards.

Outstanding Service: San Francisco's iconic Zuni Cafe will go up against the city's Saison and three other USA restaurants for the award that honors a business that "demonstrates high standards of hospitality and service".

Zahav is nominated for Outstanding Service, though this is far from the restaurant's first James Beard recognition. Yang has never been nominated in this category, and she is the only Minnesota chef nominated in a national Beard Foundation category. For Best Chef Southwest (the region Texas is in), McHugh is joined by Austin's Michael Fojtasek (Olamaie), as well as Bryce Gilmore (Barley Swine), Santa Fe's Martín Rios (Restaurant Martín) and Denver's Alex Seidel (Mercantile Dining & Provision).

San Francisco's Dominique Crenn, of the two-Michelin-star Atelier Crenn, is a finalist for Best Chef in the West.

Cogswell, who is originally from North Carolina, now acts as Zahav's pastry chef.

This morning, for the 10 year in a row, Highlands was named a finalist for the most outstanding restaurant in America, besting the mark of nine consecutive nominations that it set last year.

Also today, Highlands pastry chef Dolester Miles was selected one of five finalists for the country's outstanding pastry chef. Vedge marked six years in business last Fall.

You can find the full list of finalists here. Winners will be revealed on May 7; media winners will be announced April 27.
