Deadline broke last July 11 that Quentin Tarantino had met with Margot Robbie and asked her to play Sharon Tate in his next film.

"Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" will mark the first collaboration between Tarantino and Robbie. The Australian beauty had always been rumored being eyed for the said role in "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood", and now Deadline reports that talks are underway to make it happen. But Rick has a very famous next-door neighbor...

DiCaprio is starring as Rick Dalton, who is struggling to make it in the movie business. DiCaprio will play the character Rick Dalton, a faded star of Western films trying to make his comeback. The role would be the latest career high for Robbie, whose turn as disgraced American figure skater Tonya Harding in I, Tonya earned her an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress this year. This is also the time that Charles Manson sent his followers on a killing spree which included the pregnant Tate along with others in her house at the time.

Robbie was on the initial shortlist of cast members Tarantino had reportedly approached for the film, including Pitt and DiCaprio (the only official names announced), Samuel L. Jackson, Tom Cruise, and Jennifer Lawrence.

Despite Tarantino's insistence that the film will not center on Charles Manson, "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" is set for release on August 9, 2019, which is the 50th anniversary of the Manson Family murders.

Sony Pictures is backing Quentin Tarantino's next movie, that already had Leonardo DiCaprio on board.
