The Polestar 1 hybrid performance auto - the first to come from the Volvo spin-off brand -is now available to advance order.

Polestar appeared at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show as a standalone brand alongside parent company Volvo for the first time this year, where Chief Operating Officer Jon Goodman told Auto Express that there were now around 6,000 expressions of interest in the coupe before a confirmed price had even been announced. During the selection process, a configuration tool allows prospective buyers to visualize their Polestar 1 before placing an order. Response ahead of the pre-order books being opened has been thoroughly encouraging, according to Polestar CEO Thomas Ingenlath, with over 7,000 registrations of interest.

The combo makes for a total output of 600 horsepower and 1,000 Nm of torque, with the range achievable in electric mode reaching as much as 150 km (93 miles).

The countries in which the system has gone live are the UK, China, the USA, Canada, Sweden, Germany, Norway, the Netherlands, Denmark, Finland, Spain, France, Portugal, Poland, Italy, Austria, Switzerland and Belgium. "We will now take the next steps towards delivering this attractive vehicle to our first customers", says Thomas Ingenlath, Chief Executive Officer of Polestar.

In October, Geely Holdings, parent of Volvo Cars, announced a $756 million dollar investment to bolster the early phases of Polestar's product lineup and industrial footprint.

The first deliveries of the Polestar 1 will start in 2019.
