Her husband, John Alford, made it out and is being treated at Duke University Hospital.

Community members have planned a prayer vigil, "Light up the Night: Push Back the Darkness", to take place 5 p.m., Friday, at the remains of the Mulberry Court house, across from the Wildwood Point subdivision entrance on Lizard Creek Road.

Authorities say they've found a auto linked to the death of a pastor's wife near Littleton in western North Carolina. Furthermore, members of the SBI and State Highway Patrol, have joined forces with the Lake Gaston authorities who are now combing the ruins of Alford's charred home. One forced Nancy Alford to go to a State Employees' Credit Union branch in Roanoke Rapids to withdraw money while the second intruder stayed behind at the home with John Alford, the sheriff said.

Her husband, Rev. John Alford, narrowly escaped from the fire; however, Warren County Sheriff Johnny Williams says Rev. Alford is now at the UNC Burn Center in Chapel Hill.

John Alford is the pastor of Sanford Memorial Baptist Church, Brodnax, Virginia, the Concord Baptist Association said. His wife taught Sunday school at the church.

Williams and other officials stopped and questioned drivers in the area Saturday in attempt to gain any clues about the suspects.

It is with deepest sympathy we make this post.

"You can't even have a home or property without someone coming in and destroying it or setting it on fire or killing you", neighbor Joyce Humphreys said.

The State Bureau of Investigation says they've found a auto stolen during a home invasion and deadly fire.

Police have not yet released suspect descriptions.
