Visiting the attack area on Wednesday morning, the Union Minister expressed grief and also paid his homage to the nine martyred CRPF jawans.

CRPF constable Manoranjan Lenka, among nine troopers of the force killed in a Maoist ambush in Chhattisgarh's Sukma district on Tuesday, rejoined duty a day ago after completing his father's funeral rites in Odisha, according to his family. "People of the country hope that this will not be repeated and the Centre is alert over it".

"An encounter took place with Naxals at 8am and seeing the response of 208 CoBRA, the Naxals fled away".

The only thing that she has been asking is where her son "Manua" is, said a villager. The rebels used heavy explosives to blow up the vehicle and had triggered several IEDs, sources said.

MP Karan Singh Yadav, minister Hem Singh Bhadana, CRPF DIG Jagdish Meena and senior police officials were present in the funeral.

To a query, the minister denied the probability of deploying the Army to tackle Naxals in the Bastar region, which is considered as the hotbed of the ultras.

Singh said MP CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan had announced financial assistance of Rs 1 crore each to the kin of the two CRPF personnel from MP who were martyred in Tuesday's naxal attack in Sukma. The following jawans belonged to 212 battalion.
