Predator, Alita, & Death On The Nile Get New Release Dates

Fox has pushed back the release dates for Alita: Battle Angel and The Predator.

Originally announced for a July 20 release, the Robert Rodriguez-directed Alita has been pushed back five months to December 21. The shift in date shouldn't be too worrying for a film that requires a multitude of post-production SFX, but this move will put Alita: Battle Angel in direct competition with Aquaman, Bumblebee, and the Will Ferrell/John C. Reilly comedy Holmes and Watson.

Shane Black's The Predator, meanwhile, is moving off its previously-established August 3rd release date to September 18th. The studio announced that Death on the Nile, the sequel to last year's solid, yet underwhelming Murder on the Orient Express, will hit on November 8, 2019.

James Cameron is on board as producer, with the movie based on the Manga by Yukito Kishiro, with the screenplay by Cameron and Laeta Kalogridis and Robert Rodriguez. Rosa Salazar plays an abandoned cyborg discovered in an Iron City scrapyard by cyber-doctor named Ido, played by Christoph Waltz.

Here's the Alita: Battle Angel synopsis.

The first trailer for Alita: Battle Angel was released in December.

Shane Black's The Predator, the fourth film in the franchise, takes place between the events of 1990's Predator 2 and 2010's Predators. A growing affection develops between the two until deadly forces come after Alita and threaten her newfound relationships. Official plot details are still scarce, but the upcoming reboot has an impressive cast that includes Sterling K. Brown, Boyd Holbrook, Thomas Jane, Olivia Munn, Keegan-Michael Key, and Jacob Tremblay. Kenneth Branagh is set to return as director and as iconic detective Hercule Poirot.

Fox is also looking ahead past 2018.

The Predator now has a 3.56 out of 5 ComicBook, com User Anticipation Rating, making it the eleventh most anticipated upcoming movie not based on a comic book among Users.
