That was sad news to fans of the game and its unique user interface.

Epic Games today announced that Unreal Engine 4 developers now have access to a full array of assets from Paragon, the company's high-end multiplayer online battle arena game. They're available to download for free in the Unreal Engine Marketplace.

The assets, built at a cost of over $12 million, include 20 AAA-quality characters, with their respective skins, animations, VFX and dialogue, along with over 1,500 environment components from Paragon.

This is just the beginning though, as more character releases are scheduled.

- Environments: The Paragon release includes over 1,500 environment assets created for the Agora and Monolith maps, including a sample map for developers to use and customize as desired.

For novice and seasoned developers alike, this is a pretty big jackpot as there are no strings attached for using them in their own projects. Class up any game in a matter of minutes by downloading these free gifts and making your game a little more green and luscious.

This is Epic's first such free release of assets from a big-budget PC game, though. Following the rampant success of Fortnite, developers from the game were shifted over from Paragon to work on it before the project was shuttered entirely.

It's a shame that "Paragon" is shutting down, I enjoyed playing it but all good things much come to an end.

Unreal Engine 4.19 "enables artists and designers to step inside the creative process with tools that become nearly transparent so creators can spend more time building attractive worlds".
