The new Gmail features include smart reply, offline support, and a "snooze emails" option, according to the report. "You can also ask your recipient to confirm their identity with a passcode sent via text message". Before we get to that, what we know so far is that the revamped Gmail could launch in the next few weeks and will perhaps be part of the Google I/O developers conference on May 8.

Google's upcoming Gmail redesign could come with security features that ensure only the right person can view an e-mail-and only for a specific period of time.

The last effort made by Google to change Gmail's interface was when it introduced the Inbox concept, though the web version has not changed in appearance even after that change in 2014. Google has meanwhile kept mum about the new features, requesting for a bit more time to compose themselves before they share anything. Users will be able to select a date when the email will expire, after which the receiver will no longer be able to see the email.

However, the most exciting feature of all might be a new "Confidential Mode" revealed by reports on Friday. From there they'll need to login again to read the email. In 2017, Gmail had 1.2 billion active worldwide users.

TechCrunch also pointed out that when a ProtonMail user sends an expiring message to another ProtonMail user, the email looks like a regular email in the box.

A U.K. High Court judge did not agree and ruled Google had to erase search results pertaining to the man's prosecution and conviction for conspiracy to carry out surveilance, noting that he had expressed remorse for his actions, served his time, and that the record had little relevance to his current business dealings, The Telegraph reported. However, there is one big concern surrounding the new feature which is - although Google does not allow printing, copying, or pasting of the email content there are no measures whatsoever to prevent the receiver from screenshotting the email.

Would these features make you feel better about the security of your email account?
