A man accused of robbery is in jail after leading police on a chase and then locking himself inside a Chattanooga home.

Police say the robber took off with an undisclosed amount of cash and cigarettes. The location of the robbery could not be released at this time. A Chattanooga police officer working the east Chattanooga area spotted him.

Police in Limpopo are condemning residents reporting false cases to the police in the strongest possible terms.

Sutton said there was a young lady inside the home, but she was not hurt.

Police were involved in a pursuit when the suspect abandoned his vehicle on Jackson Street and ran on foot to the home on North Hawthorne Street.

Sutton said officers convinced the man to surrender. He was wanted for several warrants, police said, but they have not yet released his identity.

Neighbors say the suspect hit this red auto on Rawlings Street about 0.7 miles from where the SWAT standoff ended.
