Gusty winds develop behind a cold front this morning.

Down at the surface though the wind was coming from the Northeast bringing colder air into western MA and even below freezing temperatures in a fairly thick layer at and a bit above the surface. The freezing rain was expected to turn into rain by Monday afternoon, turning heavy at times.

With temperatures in the mid to upper 20s, accumulations of 1 to 2 inches have been reported, with slick, snow-covered roads in some areas, according to the National Weather Service.

The rest of the week looks dry and seasonably warm, with the warmest day on Wednesday with highs inching toward the low 80s.

Mostly cloudy with scattered showers tonight. Between showers clouds will stay mostly cloudy, preventing afternoon warmth - highs will only reach 42 degrees.

In the evening, scattered chances go up again slightly as they make the shift from rain, to a mix, and then over to snow for the late evening and overnight.
