Shenmue I and II are coming to the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC later this year, Sega announced at today's FES 2018 press conference.

Shenmue I & II comes complete with the original feature set that defined modern gaming, including enthralling jujitsu combat, investigative sleuthing, and RPG elements in addition to memorable mini-games.

Shenmue 1 and 2 were originally exclusive to the Sega Dreamcast, with the first game arriving in 1999 and the sequel landing in 2001.

First off, the planned releases aren't remasters of Suzuki's original games. Shenmue I & II is set within engrossing real-time open worlds that feel truly alive thanks to day-to-night cycles and weather changes, with a population of civilians who follow their own schedules.

In Shenmue II, Ryo crosses the sea to Hong Kong and ventures deeper into the criminal underworld to unravel the mysteries of the Dragon Mirror that his father kept hidden.

This collection of two games will be offered with fully scalable screen resolution, a choice between modern and classic control schemes, PC graphics options, an enhanced user interface and even an option to switch between Japanese or English voiceovers.

It has been a few years since Shenmue 3 was first funded on Kickstarter, and while news has been slim, we did hear back in January that we should expect a release later this year.
