We haven't seen a follow-up to this model but we already saw the Sony Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 Compact and got our hands-on feature. The XZ2 Premium is a bigger play in this direction with the dual camera system - but it does beg the question - why not put this in the Xperia XZ2 - and leave the 4K display out of the equation? It is powered by the octa-core Snapdragon 845 processor along with Adreno 630 GPU. Details from both sensors are then processed by the AUBE™ fusion image signal processor in real time, enabling video recording with the highest ISO12800 sensitivity ever in a smartphone (as well as an ultra sensitive ISO51200 for photos).

With the Motion Eye™ Dual camera you can also express your artistic side. Using both sensors, you'll be able to introduce bokeh effects such as blurred backgrounds or take monochrome photos with a better blend of blacks and whites. The camera's low-light capability - as well as its artistic effects - are available for viewing with the live view-finder for an accurate representation of your subject. In the camera department, there is a dual camera setup on the rear featuring 19MP RGB sensor with f/1.8 aperture and 12MP Monochrome sensor with f/1.6 aperture. However, while the sensor is capable of recording 4K HDR videos, it's not clear yet if the main sensor is capable of recording at 60fps.

Elsewhere, the Xperia XZ2 Premium comes with a 5.8-inch 4K HDR screen, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor with 6GB RAM, Android Oreo software, and a 3,450mAh battery to boot. This Xperia XZ2 Premium, however, could bring fresh life to Sony's struggling mobile division.

Sony is pushing a new "Dynamic Vibration System" for this phone, which supposedly analyzes audio data from videos and games to let you "feel the action in your hands". Say hello to the Xperia XZ2 Premium.

There's also a difference on the front camera. It also features sound enhancing technologies for Xperia such Hi-res Audio, DSHEE HX and LDAC.

The build quality is the same as the Sony Xperia XZ2 Premium has the same 3D glass on the rear and aluminum frame as the XZ2. The smartphone is water resistant (IP65/IP68 certified) and features Corning Gorilla Glass 5.

Here's how the Xperia XZ2 compares to the Xperia XZ2 Premium. It will come in two color variants of Chrome Black and Chrome Silver and in single and dual-SIM specifications. You will get immersive user experiences at lightning-fast connection speeds (up to 1.2Gbps) with the second generation Gigabit LTE solution. This will give the XZ2 Premium more light when shooting in darker conditions. It also has with Smart Stamina and STAMINA modes for those moments when you want to squeeze every last minute out of your remaining charge.
