Ed Sheeran and Bruno Mars lead 2018 Billboard Music Awards nominations

(CelebrityAccess) Billboard has announced the nominees for its upcoming Billboard Music Awards and apparently there are lots and lots of awards to give out, with Kendrick Lamar, Bruno Mars and Ed Sheeran leading the pack with a whopping 15 nominations each.

U2 will compete against The Chainsmokers, Coldplay, Imagine Dragons and Migos for the Top Duo/Group trophy. They're up against Guns N' Roses, who toured the world with a reunited line-up of singer Axl Rose, guitarist Slash and bassist Duff McKagan. He faces stiff competition for all of these awards from Bruno Mars, who won in all six of his categories at the Grammy Awards in January. In a live stream on April 17, the folks at Billboard revealed BTS were among the "Top Social Artist" nominees once again for the "2018 Billboard Music Awards".

In addition to Cardi B, other top female nominees include Taylor Swift with 5 and Camila Cabello with 4 nominations. Queen Bey does face a showdown with SZA and Rihanna for Top R&B Artist.

The Billboard Music Awards will be broadcast live from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on May 20 at 8 p.m. ET, marking the first year the award show will air on the NBC network. The late Petty and his band are up for the Top Rock Artist award, as are Imagine Dragons, Linkin Park, Portugal. the Man and twenty one pilots.
