For Baseball Players In Ely, April Snow Is Nothing New

For being in the final four past year and having a tough loss, we came back and we had to push even harder.

Weinberger said he's thrilled with the chance to guide Redington into its third season as a varsity program. Did you like that?

"The biggest thing I'm thankful, grateful for is all of the work Coach Brooke did". "This year we actually hadn't stepped foot on a field or our (football/soccer) turf, so we had no idea what we were going to see defensively. I hadn't been looking at the other rankings until recently". Maybe get someone to set a screen for me, do a little change in direction. You try to stay as busy as you can, but everyone is itching to get outside. You have to box out, or you're not gonna get it. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Out of 70 high schools in the northern section, Hollister was one of 24 players selected. There have been a lot of upgrades in the course of four years. "We didn't play a baseball game until the 1st of May". I have no regrets about the season or anything like that. "You think about your program's and it's just wonderful how bad the weather has been". In everything, it's not just about me. We didn't really light the world on fire hitting-wise a year ago.

Q: What's it like to be your school's all-time leading scorer?

Except for a brief, but brilliant, stretch in the state semifinals, it wasn't Hamling's best shooting performance, but she still provided a handful of highlight-reel plays. "I didn't know what to do with myself". It just kind of happened.

"I have a 2-year-old boy and 10-year-old daughter and I felt like for the longest time I was spending more time with the football team than my own kids", Pickle said.

Here we are, almost halfway through the month of April in Northern Michigan and snow is still visible, temperatures remain low and the spring sports teams are forced to wait it out. "My goal for the season was to get 100 goals".

Q: What's the biggest lesson you'll take from coach Warner Dyke?

"For the majority of our games we were right in there", he said. "She was always hardest on me, but it made me a better person all around".

"We'll be playing at the North Albany Football Club". And then academically, I want to be able to keep my straight A's, because I want to be a physical therapist, so I have to be able to perform in the classroom. Weinberger said he had the opportunity to work with numerous athletes who were recruited to play at the next level. "I wanted to make sure I corrected that to spend more time to go to ballgames, to coach T-Ball, to do things in the past I have missed out on".

"I think either way they were going to do it, there was going to be quite a bit of standing around", he told Channel 7.

Q: What's your favorite food? The game will be played Sunday, April 8, at Pleasant Valley High School in Chico.

Q: If you could do your high school career all over again, would you change anything? I had practice every day and games nearly every weekend from August until February.
