Jamie Oliver Restaurant Group placed into voluntary administration

Aramark said that the 10-year partnership would provide the opportunity to introduce high street branded concepts such as Jamie Oliver's Diner and Jamie's Deli into its client sites in the UK, Ireland and Northern Europe, to complement its own brands.

Mr Oliver, the face of Woolworths' advertising campaigns and who is credited with helping turn around British supermarket chain Sainsbury's, bought the Australian Jamie's Italian restaurants from receivers of the failed Keystone Group in March 2017.

The assurances were made despite reports that the Jamie Oliver Restaurant Group (Australia) Pty Ltd collapsed on Monday.

The Canberra restaurant was closed down, while Brisbane-based Hallmark Group will take over the management of Jamie's Italian restaurants in Sydney, Brisbane, Perth, Parramatta and Adelaide.

Jamie's Italian Canberra has not been able to escape the downturn in fortunes for Jamie Oliver's restaurant empire.

The business was seeking to restructure in an effort to overcome debts of £71.5 million.

In March, the chief executive of the United Kingdom business said the company had struggled because it had "rested on its laurels" as more quick service retail businesses entered the British market.

"Australia has and continues to be one of our best-performing global markets and, after a short period of in-house management we are pleased to be partnering with Hallmark", said a Jamie Oliver Restaurant Group spokesman, who mentioned plans to "develop the Jamie's Italian restaurant offering across Australia".

"We look forward to working with Aramark and exploring opportunities to establish fully branded retail restaurants in multi-tenanted office and retail environments managed by Aramark", said Knight.
