Jeff Hardy kicked off Monday Night Raw on Monday by winning the United States Championship for the first time in his career.

When he moved to SmackDown, he received a controversial push that ultimately brought him the WWE Championship and the U.S. Championship. He was interrupted by the newest Raw Superstar, Jinder Mahal.

Jeff Hardy wins the United States Championship on RawWhat's the story? Mahal is also a former WWE Champion after defeating Orton past year, but it seems that his reign as United States Champion has been much shorter than his reign as WWE Champion throughout 2017.

Intercontinental champion Seth Rollins would not only give SmackDown Live a secondary title but also provide the show with a star who can help anchor the brand. After several minutes of back and forth action, Hardy connected with the Twist of Fate and a Swanton Bomb to score the clean pin and his first U.S. Title. Kurt Angle booked the match for Mahal after he complained about not being treated like a top star and called out Brock Lesnar.
