After the departure of Russell and Rana, wrist spinner Rahul Tewatia (3/18) took three wickets in the last over, but the duos 61-run partnership from 22 balls was enough to take them to 200. Gambhir's stay was short lived as he was bowled by Shivam Mavi leaving Delhi's run chase in trouble. Earlier, Rana cracked a fine half century while Russell blasted a 12-ball 44 to propel KKR to 200/9 in 20 overs.

Glenn Maxwell (47 from 22 balls) and Rishabh Pant (43 from 26) kept Delhi in the hunt with a breezy 62-run partnership from 32 balls.

Kuldeep conceded successive sixes against Maxwell but the chinaman bowler had the last laugh, dismissing the unsafe batsman for 47 and triggering the collapse with Narine taking three wickets in no time en route to his 100th IPL wicket.

Roy, who blasted 91 not out from 53 balls in Delhi's win over defending champions Mumbai Indians on Saturday, was stumped by Kolkata captain Dinesh Karthik off Piyush Chawla's leg-side wide in the opening over for one as the Daredevils were bundled out for 129 in 14.2 overs chasing 201. The Australian tries to hit third six on trott to Kuldeep Yadav, but this time he holds it straight to Uthappa. But it was the Andre Russell's whirlwind 42 off just 12 balls which pushed the run rate upto 10 runs per over and it seemed like KKR were on course to surpass 200.

Delhi had begun the game well with Trent Boult - who went on to bowl Russell to end his hopes of topping KL Rahul's record 14-ball fifty in the IPL - delivering the first maiden of this year's event. A sharp glove-work from skipper Dinesh Karthik saw in-form Jason Roy stumped off Chawla in the first over.

The left Hander hit sixes and fours in his explosive innings. The player of the match goes to Nitish Rana.

Rana, who scored 59 runs from 35 balls on Monday, believes it is the team's combined effort that led to the victory against Daredevils. And Kolkata Knight Riders won by 71 runs. They lost nearly five wickets.

Despite being a little expensive, Trent Boult has picked up 4 wickets in 3 games. Incidentally, this was also KKR's first win at Eden Gardens in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018.

Maxwell and Pant gave Delhi hope but that was soon extinguished - Curran chipping in with the wicket of Tewatia - as the visitors slumped to a third defeat in four games and Kolkata moved up to second in the table.

Jason Roy, who was brought into the match against Mumbai in place of Colin Munro, will be looking to carry on the form after playing match winning knock in the last game.

The big-hitting Russell smashed six sixes, Mohammed Shami in particular coming in for some treatment while Jason Roy was left to rue putting down a hard chance to remove the dangerman when he had only seven to his name. Piyush Chawla, Andre Russell, Shivam Mavi and Tom Curran also took a wicket each.

With Star India now acquiring the media rights from Sony Pictures Network India for the upcoming season, the matches will be telecast on various Star Sports channels.
