A win tonight would propel West Ham to 37 points and in the process significantly boost their chances of survival. The Clarets are on the verge of the top six and are in excellent form, the Saints are - like Stoke - in the relegation zone and very much out of form.

But Carroll's goal keeps the Potters in 19th place, with just four games to go.

Stoke City have not won a game since 20 January 2018 whilst the Hammers go into their match off a one-all draw against Chelsea.

West Ham United manager David Moyes said he was surprised by goalkeeper Joe Hart's mistake that handed Stoke City the opening goal in Monday's 1-1 Premier League draw but he defended the England player after his side had to settle for a point.

- On home soil, West Ham have lost just one of their last seven top-flight games (W3 D3), after losing three of the six before that (W1 D2).

Former Stoke favourite Mark Arnautovic is the favourite in the First Goalscorer market at 7/2, and that's understandable given he was virtually unplayable in West Ham's 3-0 win over Southampton last time, scoring twice.

Initially, however, the former Everton, Sunderland and Manchester United boss was anxious he would not be able to coax the best form out of Arnautovic, who had struggled in his first four months at the club, often being criticised for his poor work-rate. Benfica continue to dream with a €50m sale, although clubs will hardly pay that for a striker who has only eight goals scored this season.

After an initial good start under Paul Lambert, Stoke have fallen apart.

West Ham had three efforts ruled out after Marko Arnautovic was twice offside and Carroll handled inside the box but Lambert said his team were due a bit of luck and felt they deserved to come away from east London with a point. While the Potters have some talented offensive players, they have been a disaster defensively.

Is Stoke's 10-year Premier League stay coming to an end?

- This clash produced 36 fouls, a joint-high tally in the Premier League game this season (level with Chelsea v Manchester United on November 5). Live streaming is available on NBC Sports Gold, which you can access with a subscription.
