School board considers police officer for schools

Crestwood School District Superintendent Joseph Gorham has scheduled a "press conference" for Wednesday afternoon, a little bit more than 24 hours before the next school board meeting.

He also waived his right to sue the district, and he agreed to not make any "disparaging remarks" against the school board, district or its employees.

Polunci said the district has a very transient population and enrollment could fluctuate by 50 to 60 students throughout the course of the year. The finalists for Nelson County Schools superintendent are Hamby, superintendent of Trigg County Schools; Wes Bradley, principal of Thomas Nelson High School, and Chuck Abell, assistant superintendent of Spencer County Schools.

"I think $105 million is an enormous step forward", Auerbach said, explaining that it is still an amount that the Avon Grove community could afford.

Superintendent Hank Stopinski said he did not have an estimate of the impact for a home valued at $100,000 with this increase to the tax levy because the 2018-2019 assessments have not been completed yet.

As expected, though, elementary school enrollment is decreasing, he said.

The board reviewed the credentials of 16 applicants, narrowing down a list of eight semi-finalists, who were interviewed March 19-20.

"This is a tight year because of charter school increases, special ed increases", Gallagher said.

Marchese pointed out that the plans now under consideration were scaled back from what was recommended by the district's Facilities Input Group that spent 16 months analyzing the district's facilities needs.

"At $127 million, you're going to be (raising taxes) at the Act 1 Index.for the next seven years", Auerbach said.

Andrews said the district is better than it was when he got here.

The Title I awards from the DPI honor schools that receive funding from Title I, which is awarded to schools serving families with economic disadvantages.

He has not returned multiple requests for comment, and the district has declined to comment.

"It worked brilliantly", Adams says of Wi-Fi on Wheels, which put wireless access points on district school buses and then parked the buses where students lived.

Next, the school board discussed a draft resolution that will establish the school's authorization of a project and the parameters for spending.

Their help will be needed if decisions regarding any change orders are necessary, and they should be willing to provide cooperative input regarding questions that undoubtedly will surface as the construction phase proceeds.
