Wade leads Heat over 76ers; series even at 1-1

The Miami Heat were able to even their series with the Philadelphia 76ers on Monday night, as they walked into the Wells Fargo Center and picked up a 113-103 victory behind a huge night from Dwyane Wade. However, a dominant second half display from the Heat along with a vintage performance from Dwyane Wade who scored 28 points, three assists and seven rebounds ended that run as the series now heads to Miami for the next two games.

The Heat slowed the game down - exactly the kind of style where the Sixers needed Embiid in the middle - and used a collective of defenders on Ben Simmons that rattled the rookie point guard early. With a roster full of capable defenders (Covington, Simmons, Saric, Marco Belinelli, J.J.to an extent, etc) who have the uncanny ability to constantly switch onto different opposing players, they must continue to give little airspace to shooters and force them off the 3-point line. But Wade helped the Heat finish it off.

The plan worked out well Monday, as the tone of the contest changed with Wade weaving through the Sixers' defense and directing traffic on offense.

But there was life left in the fourth.

Wade contributed with baskets, assists and free throws over the final 4 minutes to close out the win.

Dragic then grabbed another two-pointer and suddenly the Heat were eight clear again at 104-96, leaving the Sixers with too much to do to overturn the deficit.

76ers: Philly native and Hollywood star Kevin Hart rang the ceremonial Liberty Bell and sat courtside a few seats down from Allen Iverson.

Now, the goal for the Heat has to be to limit Whiteside's minutes until Joel Embiid comes back in this series - because that is when Whiteside can have an impact. "I felt tonight it was a really strong example of how you wished you had him", Brown told reporters. "He, to me, is the difference maker. It's born out of competitiveness and its born out him wanting to be with his team". "He was class. He was a gentleman", Brown said.
