Two people were taken to hospital after a house fire Thursday morning in southeast Edmonton's Mill Woods area.

Fire crews battled a house fire in Selma Thursday morning at McCall Avenue and Northhill Street in Selma.

When crews arrived, eight people, including an infant, were still inside the home, said Maya Filipovic, a spokesperson with Edmonton Fire Rescue. The home was being remodeled due to a previous fire a year ago.

"I would say the house is mostly a loss", Mead said regarding the damage.

Candelaria said her home didn't appear to be affected, but firefighters were spraying it with water just to be safe.

10 crews responded to the blaze, which was under control at 4:23 a.m.

There is significant damage to the home, Filipovic said.

No firefighters were injured.

Investigators will work to deterime a cause and damages.
