The First Wives Club is officially headed to the small screen thanks to Paramount Network.

Paramount Network in the United States is moving ahead with its TV version of comedy movie First Wives Club from Paramount Television. "Cox continued, "[She is] the flawless visionary to bring this unforgettable story from the big screen to the small screen in a fresh and contemporary way".

In fact, though the series will be based off Paramount's 1996, which in turn was based off of Olivia Goldsmith's book of the same name, execs at the network are looking to Oliver to use her creativity to put a modern twist on First Wives Club. It will be filmed in NY.

Production on the new series is set to start up in the summer of 2018 in New York City, with Paramount Networks eyeing a 2019 release for the series. In addition to penning the script, Oliver will serve as executive producer alongside Karen Rosenfelt ("Twilight Saga") and the original "First Wives Club" producer Scott Rudin. A cast hasn't yet been announced but we're holding out hope that the series will take advantage of its Girl Trip connection and bring in Tiffany Haddish in some capacity because let's be honest, everything's better when she's involved. When TV Land passed, the project was moved to Paramount Network, and Oliver was brought in to write a new script. The network has now completed a deal for a series pickup. The studio's robust slate includes Tom Clancy's "Jack Ryan" (Amazon), "13 Reasons Why" (Netflix), "Maniac" (Netflix), "Shooter" (USA), "Berlin Station" (EPIX), "The Alienist" (TNT), "The Haunting of Hill House" (Netflix), "Catch-22" (Hulu), "Galaxy Quest" (Amazon), "Girls Code" (Freeform) and "Snow Crash" (Amazon), among others. Paramount Television and Paramount Digital Entertainment are part of Paramount Pictures Corporation (PPC), a global producer and distributor of filmed entertainment.
