Comey's memos were released to the public on Thursday, with some classified information redacted. Special counsel Robert Mueller is investigating potential ties between Russian Federation and Trump's 2016 campaign as well as possible obstruction of justice by the president.

The 15 pages of documents contain new details about a series of interactions with Trump that Comey found so unnerving that he documented them in writing.

The memos showed "the president made clear he wanted allegations of collusion, coordination, and conspiracy between his campaign and Russian Federation fully investigated", they said.

And McCabe, a spokeswoman confirmed on Thursday, is aware that he could be facing criminal charges after the Justice Department referred his case to the U.S. Attorney's Office in Washington, D.C. The inspector general's office says McCabe improperly directed an aide to leak information to The Wall Street Journal and then "lacked candor" about it to investigators. "Will the Witch Hunt continue?" The department released Boyd's letter publicly but did not release the memos.

He said Trump went on to explain his reasons for firing Flynn, adding that despite misleading the vice president, "he had other concerns about Flynn".

Last week, the GOP chairmen of three House committees demanded the memos by Monday.

During a February meeting, Trump said "the hookers thing" claim from the Steele dossier about his his visit to Russia wasn't true - but said that Russian President Vladimir Putin had told him in an earlier conversation that "we have some of the most lovely hookers in the world".

The former Federal Bureau of Investigation director recalled Trump asking him to investigate the matter to prove that "it was a lie" but Comey warned that doing so might lead the media to believe wrongly that the FBI was investigating the president. Details from Comey's memos reported in news stories past year appear to come from the unclassified portions.

"In telling the story, the president pointed his fingers at his head and said 'the guy has serious judgment issues'".

"There were no prostitutes; there were never prostitutes", Comey recalled Trump saying in one of the memos. While former Director Comey went to great lengths to set dining room scenes, discuss height requirements, describe the multiple times he felt complimented, and myriad other extraneous facts, he never once mentioned the most relevant fact of all, which was whether he felt obstructed in his investigation.

Comey writes that he told Trump 'Andy was a true professional and had no problem at all'.

Comey is on a publicity tour to promote his new book, "A Higher Loyalty".

Comey said that while speaking with then-Chief of Staff Reince Priebus, Vice President Mike Pence and Trump, Priebus asked if there was anything "they should know or that might come out". If Jim Comey were my witness, I don't think I'd have a snowball's chance in hell of convincing anybody that he's reliable.

Redacted copies of the documents were obtained by NPR.

Conservative commentators, such as Fox News host Tucker Carlson, have attacked Comey as partisan and indecisive in his handling of the email scandal that dogged Hillary Clinton's 2016 presidential campaign.

The documents will also renew attention on the odd relationship between Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

"Yeah, I think so".

Trump's ongoing anger about the separate investigation of Russia's 2016 campaign interference and possible coordination with the Trump campaign, and what he sees still as the FBI's soft treatment of Hillary Clinton, found a target in McCabe a year ago. Comey sent a draft of his book to the part of the standard pre-publication protocol for former employees.
