While this may come as a surprise to some, the company says it is simply looking to focus more on their popular Dead Rising franchise.

Capcom is shutting down its tile-matching multiplayer mobile game Puzzle Fighter.

The game's servers will be shut down on July 31, when means there's still plenty of time to play it. Look over our Puzzle Fighter tips which cover the character list, unlocks and how to win in the mobile version. In the meantime, Capcom is offering 10,000 gems-Puzzle Fighter's in-game currency-to all players as a thank-you gift.

Meanwhile, previously planned future content - upcoming characters and stages - will now just be released for free. In an official blog post, the company said it made a decision to end support for the game so development studio Capcom Vancouver could be "dedicating its focus to our flagship Dead Rising franchise". Regina and Dr. Wily will be available today, while Ada Wong and the new stages will arrive free to players on April 23rd, 2018. "We appreciate the fans who have supported Puzzle Fighter until this point". It is a sudden and painful ending to an incredibly fun game, and while some dedicated players are disheartened for the inevitable ending of Puzzle Fighter, many others are thankful to have been able to experience the genius creation. It was developed by Capcom Vancouver, the studio best known for the Dead Rising series.

It's unclear at this point whether the layoffs Capcom Vancouver suffered earlier this year, about 30 percent of their staff, is another reason for this announcement.

A new entry in the Dead Rising series has yet to be formally announced, but as you can see, one is in development.
