Even in the wake of a season-ending injury Brock Boeser's fine work has been noticed by the NHL's hockey writers.

Boeser, the former UND star and Vancouver Canucks forward, was named a finalist Sunday along with Arizona Coyotes forward Clayton Keller, who played at Boston University, and New York Islanders forward Mathew Barzal.

Barzal is widely considered to be the favourite for the award, especially after Boeser suffered a season-ending fracture of a vertebrae.

Boeser, the 23rd overall pick in the 2015 draft, was second among rookies with 29 goals and fifth with 55 points despite appearing in only 62 games.

Though Boeser and Keller (23 goals and 65 points), had incredible seasons, it'd be a major surprise if the award didn't go to Barzal.

The victor will be announced June 20th at the NHL Awards at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.
