"The results have shown that they haven't crossed those lines".

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Trump said he would be "glad" to see Putin at the White House during the call, according to Russian state news agency RIA Novosti and reported by Reuters.

Lavrov that Trump indicated he could make a reciprocal trip to Russian Federation if Putin were able to accept his invitation to the White House.

"President Putin is ready for such a meeting", Lavrov said.

Russian officials say the tripartite Western attacks hit Syria right at the moment the country had a chance to have a peaceful future.

Moscow's hopes for better ties with Washington under Trump have withered amid the ongoing investigations into the alleged collusion between the Trump campaign and Russian Federation.

It is very important for the Kremlin to maintain at least the perception of high approval ratings as the Russian population is bearing hard economic times mainly due to the Western response to Russia's behavior in the American 2016 election and its actions in Ukraine, Syria.

On April 14, the US, France and the United Kingdom carried out missile attacks on a number of targets in Syria in response to a suspected chemical attack in the Syrian town of Douma, near Damascus, that reportedly took place on April 7.

But given the latest spiraling of the crisis - in particular the use of the alleged Douma chemical attack as pre-text for striking Syria - things may take a U-turn. That prompted the U.S., Britain and France to launch a missile strike on Syria.

Following the strikes, Russian Federation announced it may consider giving Syria S-300 systems so it can defend itself in the face of such acts of aggression.

Lavrov, who met with Trump in Washington in May, said Russian Federation was expecting Trump to formalize the invitation, RIA Novosti reported.

In the wake of the US-led operation on Syria, Russia said it may consider sending supplies of S-300 missile systems to Damascus.
