Chinese smartphone maker Gionee has launched 2 new smartphones - Gionee F205 and Gionee S11 Lite - in India. Catering to the swelling demand for pre-eminent smartphone features at competitive price points, both the launches are created to lead the sub - 15K category in India. This means that both the phones offer full-screen displays with minimal bezels around.

The Gionee S11 Lite comes with a 5.7 inch HD+ display with a resolution of 720 x 1440 pixels and a pixel density of ~282 PPI. As far as the design of the phone is concerned, it features a four-sided curved rear panel. The smartphone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 SoC which is paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage with an expansion slot. It comes with 16GB of built-in storage and supports expandable storage up to 256GB via a microSD card. It receives power from 3,030mAh battery.

The S11 Lite runs on Android 7.1.1 Nougat OS with Amigo 5.0 and is backed by a decent 3,030mAh battery. Other software features include Private Space 2.0 and Fake Private Space.

Imaging option on the Gionee S11 Lite includes a dual rear camera unit made up of a 13-Megapixel+2-Megapixel combo. For shooting selfies, it provides its users with a 16-megapixel front-facing camera. Although the front camera is just 5MP, it comes with a bunch of in-vogue camera features such as Face Unlock, Bokeh selfie mode, Group selfie mode and a Face beauty mode with 100 Level Face Beauty and 7 levels of Bokeh effect. The front camera be also for unlocking the phone by scanning the face.

- Both the Gionee S11 Lite and F205 highlight FullView displays with tall 18:9 aspect ratios, keeping in line with the current industry trend. Its native storage is 16 GB and it also features a microSD card slot.

Gionee S11 Lite runs on Android 7.1 Nougat with a layer of Amigo UI. The device is backed by a 3030mAh battery and on the connectivity front, it supports 4G VoLTE, WiFi, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, dual-SIM and micro USB port.

Gionee F205 at Rs 8,999 and S11 at Rs 13,999 seem to be interesting propositions, but they are still somewhat overpriced when compared to other smartphones in the same price segment, especially Redmi 5 and Redmi Note 5 Pro or the recently-launched Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1. The device comes in three colour options- Gold, Dark Blue and Black, but the Dark Blue colour is the standout variant of the three. The phones should be available via offline retailers and some e-commerce channels.
