In February, coach Tite confirmed 16 of the 23 he would take to Russian Federation, though last week he was dealt a blow as right-back Dani Alves was forced to rule himself out of contention with a serious knee injury.

Defender Alves, a veteran of two World Cups, sprained his right ACL last week in the French Cup final and was replaced in the 23-man Brazil squad by Manchester City's Danilo and Corinthians' Fagner.

With exactly a month to go for the start of the 2018 FIFA World Cup, five-time champions Brazil have finalized their squad for the tournament. "I have the same confidence in them as I had in Dani".

PSG striker Neymar, who was been out with an injured foot since February 25, was also named in the squad as he is expected to be fit by early June.

Brazil squad in full: Goalkeepers: Alisson (Roma), Ederson (Manchester City), Cassio (Corinthians).

The Brazilians will play friendlies against Croatia in Liverpool on June 3 and Austria in Vienna on June 10.
