Apple revamped the built-in keyboard on its Mac laptop lineup in 2015 with a new butterfly switch mechanism.

It has now been over three years since Apple first introduced its butterfly keyboard with the 12-inch MacBook, later bringing it to the MacBook Pro line - but user sentiment seems to be growing increasingly negative. "The legal firm behind the lawsuit, Girard Gibbs LLP, makes no mention of having to experience these issues in order to join".

Do you have problems with your MacBook or MacBook Pro keyboard? The petition has almost 24,000 online signatures, and its goal is 25,000.

Fixing butterfly keyboard issues through Apple can reportedly cost as much as $700. They are also asking for Apple to fix or replace faulty keyboards, including offering full reimbursement for replacement laptops. Here are some reasons why you would be happy with just the standard iPad instead of the Apple iPad Pro.

Apple states that due to the slim design of the laptop, it was necessary to include a butterfly-mechanism keyboards, in order to maintain a slim profile which has always been the aesthetic standard of their products. They also added that the 2017 model of the MacBook Pro is fairing slightly better, "but not by a lot".

If so, you may have noticed your keyboard isn't working properly.

Over the weekend, a class action lawsuit was filed against Apple, claiming it knew of the problems with the keyboard and went ahead with the release anyway.
