The two self-published games it's working on are fresh IPs, which is a chance to start afresh, and the idea of turning the genre on its head does suggest a radical change.

We still have Scalebound in our minds, which was being made as a Microsoft-funded Xbox One and Windows 10 exclusive title, but that's apparently not made a long standing impression over at the Japanese studio as it is still working on something totally new and mind-blowing.

At the BitSummit gaming industry convention - which took place in Kyoto, Japan this weekend - developer/publisher PlatinumGames announced that they are working on an all-new top secret action game.

Along with Bayonetta 3 along with also the top-secret game mentioned previously, the studio is co-developing Lost Order and Granblue Fantasy Project Re: Connect for cellular and PlayStation 4. And for what specific reason it could be considered a total flip for the action genre?

Credit where credit is due, PlatinumGames knows its action games.

"We can not put together an AAA, $10 million-plus match, since we simply don't have that type of money as an independent programmer". However, we don't plan to go the indies route with just a few people on the team making a game, ' he said. It has delivered so many groundbreaking and stellar action games at this point, that even its huge misses - i.e. The Legend of Korra, Star Fox Zero, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants in Manhattan, etc. - are often overlooked when talking about it in the context of the action-game developer pantheon.
