Diego Maradona has been appointed as chairman of Belarusian top-flight side Dinamo Brest.

Having enjoyed a varied career since he retired from playing, Maradona posted on Instagram: "I am president of the club, Dynamo Brest".

Maradona previously worked as the coach of Argentina's Deportivo Mandiyu (1994) and Racing Club (1995), as well as of UAE club Al-Wasl (2001-2012) and of the Argentine national team (2008-2010).

Maradona will supervise strategic development and cooperate with all structural departments, including the Academy of Dynamo Brest, according to a statement on the club's website.

The 57-year-old will take charge of Dynamo, who are eighth in their league, after the conclusion of this year's World Cup in Russian Federation. With him in charge the Brest-based team won the Super Cup and qualified for the final of Belarus' Cup. However, the start of the national championship was not successful for FC Dynamo Brest and after the team suffered defeat from FC Torpedo-BelAZ Zhodino, Radoslav Latal and the club's management chose to terminate cooperation.

Diego Maradona is unveiled as the new chairman of Dinamo Brest, who are now down in eighth place in the Belarusian Premier League.
