For F1 2018, "the career mode has been further expanded to immerse players even deeper into the world of F1 than before", said Paul Jeal, Codemasters' F1 franchise director. The 2018 season has started in exhilarating style with victories for Scuderia Ferraris Sebastian Vettel at both the Australian and Bahrain Grand Prix, and then for Red Bull Racings Daniel Ricciardo in China.

Codemasters has officially announced that F1 2018 will release across the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC systems worldwide on Friday, 24th August (which just happens to be the weekend of a certain legendary Formula race held in Belgium, you may have heard of it). The game will also include all of the official teams, drivers and circuits from the current 2018 season. The game will be releasing on August 24 of this year, so if you're a fan you only have a few more months to wait. While Codemasters has yet to publish any actual gameplay of the game (though they might do so at E3), the gameplay will likely be similar to that of previous F1 racing games. Although details are scarce at this point, Jeal does tease the return of "a highly requested feature back into the franchise". According to the press release, the game will be playable on Xbox One X, although it's unknown whether or not that version will receive any enhancements. More classic cars have been added to the game as fans like to have more historical F1 cars available to drive.

The F1 2018 release date is similar to the release date of many other sports games franchises that have yearly releases, adjusting their gameplay and graphics to the latest standards and the newest information, along with adding in the newest cars.
