And certainly not the front office who put this bullpen together.

The Tigers did their damage on ten hits and three free passes with Nicholas Castellanos going solo while JaCoby Jones went 2-5 with a homer, two RBI's and a pair of runs. Neil Ramirez, just promoted from Class AAA Buffalo, relieved Miller to strike out James McCann to end the inning. Detroit doesn't have much on the mound today in Carpenter, so I think Cleveland will be able to have some early success at the plate and pick up a needed win. "Hicks, though, was just awful". Cleveland starter Josh Tomlin was charged with four runs over 5.1 frames with Dan Otero and Andrew Miller giving up a combined five runs in the 7th. Miller then walked John Hicks to force in the go-ahead run. We aren't feeling sorry for ourselves at all. Detroit has covered the spread six times in its last seven games and the total has gone over in five of those seven.

The Indians tried to come back in the eighth. Davis drilled a one-out double to drive in two runs, and Jose Ramirez brought home Davis with another double. But Stumpf escaped by striking out Brandon Guyer and getting Jason Kipnis to hit into a 4-6-3 double play.

Cleveland got that run back the next inning on Erik Gonzalez's first homer.

Candelario appeared to enjoy facing righty pitching at home past year, slashing.365/.468/.538 across 62 such plate appearances (compared to his overall season line of.283/.359/.425).

Davis, though, hit a two-run double off Reininger in the sixth to give Cleveland a 7-3 lead, and he scored on Ramirez's double off Hicks' glove at first. He didn't allow another run until Detroit scored twice in the fifth to make it a 5-3 game. He has allowed 15 homers in 31 innings. "We're going to compete and scratch out some good at-bats, play good defense and just keep fighting to do whatever we can to win the game". "The teams that come out of the kind of adversity we're facing now are usually better for it". "If you could be in the dugout and listen to it, you'd understand exactly what we're talking about". He'll try to salvage the finale of a three-game series. He struck out three and walked three.

Mike Fiers (4-2) allowed a run and three hits for Detroit in six innings. Bauer did not get a decision in a 10-9 defeat to Kansas City with five runs plated on eleven hits and two BB over 4.2 innings.

"It's a bunch of gamers", Tigers manager Ron Gardenhire said.

The Indians and Tigers drew 20,997 to Comerica Park on Tuesday night. The game gets underway 1:10 p.m. ET and SportsTime Ohio will broadcast the action.

Trevor Bauer gets the start for the Indians this afternoon. Over is 11-1 in Bauer's last 12 starts vs. Detroit and Cleveland are 2-7 in Bauer's last 9 starts vs. Detroit. He beat the Tigers on April 12 at Progressive Field.

Left-hander Ryan Carpenter will make his second major league start for the Tigers after being recalled from Triple-A Toledo on Tuesday. He's 5-5 with a 7.26 ERA and a 1.83 WHIP in 13 career appearances against them.
