Lord & Taylor shopping site launching on Walmart.com

Meanwhile, Walmart on Wednesday said that it's ready to launch a new Lord & Taylor flagship store on Walmart.com, which will debut with more than 125 brands.

The Lord & Taylor online store on Walmart.com is expected to open in the coming weeks.

"Walmart doesn't seem like a likely choice to make a splash in fashion", said Richard Baum, managing partner of Consumer Growth Partners. "This is an exciting time to join Lord & Taylor as we evolve our model and merchandise assortment to best meet customer expectations and shopping preferences". This includes clothing for men, women and kids, as well as accessories and other options. This includes free two-day shipping on all orders that come in at $35 or more.

The shopping experience, which will be divvied up into Walmart's Everyday Brands and Premium Brands from Lord & Taylor sections, was meant to court high-income shoppers with its new offerings from more upscale brands. "The new experience is aligned with how customers shop the category, with editorial elements that inspire customers to browse and buy, and has already generated positive customer response", said Denise Incandela, head of fashion, Walmart U.S. eCommerce.

Walmart Inc (NYSE:WMT) is planning to start selling upscale products from Lord & Taylor via its online store. With fiscal year 2018 revenue of $500.3 billion, Walmart employs approximately 2.3 million associates worldwide.

Hudson's Bay Co. on Monday announced that Vanessa LeFebvre has been named president of Lord & Taylor, effective May 22, reporting to HBC CEO Helena Foulkes.
