Whitney Houston's eternal impact on culture continues to shine in the new, full-length trailer for the upcoming documentary about her life. Using never-before-seen archival footage, exclusive demo recordings, rare performances, audio archives and original interviews with the people who knew her best, Oscar-winning filmmaker Kevin Macdonald unravels the mystery behind "The Voice", who thrilled millions even as she struggled to make peace with her own troubled past.

The teaser then delves into Houston's personal life, particularly her rocky relationship with substance abuse, her turbulent marriage to Bobby Brown, and her alleged romantic entanglement with longtime friend Robyn Crawford.

"Robyn was her safety net". Another adds: "His heart was, he wanted to be on the stage".

Finally, Brown and Houston's mother, Cissy, appear to get emotional while discussing the late pop icon.

Balancing the overall seriousness and somber tone of the trailer is a clip of Houston going in on another star of the times, Paula Abdul.

"Paula Abdul ain't shit", she says in the decades-old footage. "That girls is signing off-key on the record".

"She was handsome", Cissy says.

Whitney Houston's singing backs much of the trailer, and her voice goes beyond years, beyond the screen to give chills. "She was lovely", she said, "her heart".

Miramax and Roadside Attractions have revealed the new full trailer for Whitney, the documentary about legendary chart-topping singer and actress Whitney Houston (The Bodyguard, Waiting to Exhale).

Whitney premieres on Wednesday night at Cannes Film Festival, and will hit US theaters July 6.
