The launch event of the new Nokia X phone is set to begin at 2:40PM CST, which is 12:10PM IST today at the Beijing Minsheng Museum of Modern Art.

HMD Global, the company that holds the licence to manufacture Nokia branded Android smartphones, has confirmed that some of its past year launched smartphones will receive Android P update.

Ahead of the launch, Chinese retailer - Suning.com had leaked some images of the Nokia X or Nokia X6 revealing the complete design of the phone. Furthermore, the Nokia X6 has also been spotted on Geekbench revealing specification details. RAM is expected to range from 3GB to 6GB, while storage could be in two variants of 32GB and 64GB.

The high-end Nokia X6 will make its debut in the mobile phone market. According to Suning, the Nokia X6 may come with a price tag of around CNY 1,499, which roughly translates to Rs 15,966. Other variants with more RAM and internal storage are also expected. The most highlighted feature of the phone is its iPhone X-style notch on the display.

Nokia X series seems to be the result of product extension strategy adopted by HMD and has parallels to the old Nokia strategy of having N-series, X-series and C-series devices.

For shutterbugs, a dual camera setup comprising of a 16-megapixel primary sensor with Carl ZEISS lens, and a 5-megapixel secondary depth sensor is expected.

The smartphone is expected to sport a 5.8-inch full-HD+ TFT display with a resolution of 1080x2280 pixels and 19:9 aspect ratio. Along with the camera module, the back also houses a fingerprint scanner. It is likely to run on the Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box. It will have octa-core Snapdragon 636 processor along with an Adreno 509 GPU, 3GB/4GB RAM options and up to 64GB of onboard storage.
