All throughout the marketing for Solo: A Star Wars Story, one thing has been Kyber crystal clear: Donald Glover is a ideal fit for a young Lando Calrissian. At the Cannes Film Festival, Kathleen Kennedy told Premiere France (with a hat tip to ComicBook) that yes, Lucasfilm's thinking has expanded to include the possibility of a Lando Calrissian solo movie.

"We would love to tell a story about Lando Calrissian one day, but it's not relevant, it would be fun to tell the story of Han and Chewie ..."

Excitement for the film is growing, and United Kingdom fans will get to see Solo: A Star Wars Story a day earlier than everyone else, with it set to hit cinemas on 24 May.

Donald Glover even knew he was the right choice and celebrated the casting in style himself.

Gizmodo explains that the original report from Premiere has been updated to reflect that Kathleen Kennedy believes a Lando spinoff could be in the cards. Next year, we'll get Episode IX, then maybe an Obi-Wan solo movie after that.

How much do you trust Kathleen Kennedy's pronouncements about the future of Star Wars?

While rumors about future standalone films are plentiful - including buzz about a Boba Fett film and an Obi-Wan Kenobi film - Disney/Lucasfilm has yet to confirm them. "When I heard they were making these, I told my agent, 'if they're making anything with Lando in it, I have to be Lando, '" he said over the weekend during a Solo press day. A Lando film is but the next logical step.

Billy Dee Williams originated the character of Lando Calrissian in The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, but he's set to make his big screen return in Solo, played by Donald Glover.

So, we don't yet have a confirmed Lando movie. If you are late to the party, you definitely need to check it out.
