If you're a frequent window shopper of the Fortnite in-game store, you'll know that those V-Bucks will go a long way in customizing characters with skins, emotes, back blings and more. When the latest patch is applied, a new folder is spotted which is only named Comp which might be short for Competitive. As the site also mentioned, it includes past Limited Time Modes as well for additional verification.

Insanely popular battle royale title Fortnite could be getting a competitive mode if a new report is to be believed. But it was one key detail at the end of the developer's blog post that confirmed that this coveted Comp feature is coming to the game, "Stay tuned".

"Trying to prove yourself on the battlefield?"

Unlike the game's previous limited time modes, such as the recent introduction of Thanos in the Avengers: Infinity War crossover event, Solo Showdown does not change the core Fortnite Battle Royale gameplay.

What's different is that instead of being paired with random competitors, all of the opponents you come up against will be fighting for the same prize. Get some practice knocked out in the standard solo queue in Fortnite Battle Royale, but make sure you get your 50 placement matches done before the end date. Epic says this game mode is "a one-off stepping stone to learn how to build great events for all types of players", which means other events just like this could become a regular occurance. It lets you really put your skills to the test with prizes on the line. You'll need to be 16 or over to take part, and you'll need to play all 50 matches to be eligible for a prize.

The new mode is going on from now until May 21st at 10 AM ET.
