ISIS threatens to behead Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi; shocker before FIFA World Cup 2018: The Football World Cup is regarded as one of the biggest sporting extravaganzas that will be ideal to be defined as "the biggest".

The recently-released poster shows a morphed image of masked terrorists beheading Messi and Ronaldo as the football stars are pinned to the ground at a packed stadium. Messi who single-handedly secured Argentina's qualification to Russian Federation with a hat-trick over Ecuador on the final day of South America's qualifying series was named in Jorge Sampaoli's 35-man provisional squad for the World Cup that was released on Monday.

Above the widely condemned picture, released on Telegram by a pro-ISIS group, came with a chilling caption which warns 'the ground will be filled with your blood'.

Another poster shows a fanatic in combat fatigues clutching what looks like an explosive, while looking out onto the pitch in another full-capacity stadium.

It is the latest in a series of online threats made against this summer's showpiece football tournament and Barcelona star Messi has been the target of similar warnings over the a year ago. They also released a second photo that shows an ISIS fighter holding what appears to be a grenade inside a stadium, with the caption, "FIFA World Cup Russia 2018".

The attack was thought to be in retaliation to Russia's airstrikes in Syria that are coming close to finally ending their presence in the region.

The terror group ISIS has threatened, reportedly, to behead 2 famous football players in the current era - Portugal's Cristiano Ronaldo and Argentina's Lionel Messi - at the World Cup.

The image has been released by Wafa Media Foundation known as the Islamic State mouthpiece and is the latest in a series of sick messages aimed at football fans.
