This week is National Salvation Army Week.

Quincy's Family Store at Fifth and Broadway will hold its celebration on Wednesday. Hot dogs, chips, drinks and desserts will be served from 11 a.m.to 1 p.m.at each store. The gift cards will be placed throughout each store, Monday thru Friday, with one clue given each day via social media as to where customers can find the gift card in each store. Money raised from the sale of items helps provide funding for social service programs. "Every day, right here in the Springfield area, there are innumerable individuals and families who depend on our charitable services for their basic health, safety, even survival". Salvation Army Public Relations Director Morgan Shiyou said, "It's really just to let people know that the Salvation Army is here and that we appreciate our volunteers and things that people do throughout the entire year to help".

Salvation Army of Abilene workers kicked off the week by sending out cookies to their local partners to show thanks for support they have given to the Salvation Army.

More than 150 years later after being formed the Salvation Army is carrying on the tradition of helping people.
