Mikey Garcia: I Can Stop Lomachenko, He's Not Invincible

The world champion under version WBC lightweight champion Mikey Garcia commented on the possible fight against the Ukrainian title holder of WBA Vasyl Lomachenko. Lomachenko revealed in the post-fight interview that he'd be open to giving Linares a rematch - who was arguably his toughest test to date after he knocked him down in the sixth round - before Lomachenko responded with a devastating liver punch to end the contest.

Even though Vasyl Lomachenko's fight against Jorge Linares was considered to be the more competitive fight, it did not meet the numbers his fight with Guillermo Rigondeaux drew in December.

Garcia agrees with his trainer, and explains that Lomachenko looks great against overmatched opponents, but didn't look as spectacular last week against Linares.

"I can stop him".

But Lomachenko's promoter, Bob Arum of Top Rank, told reporters that negotiating a unification with Garcia is a very hard task - one that Arum has no patience for.

"He also got dropped". I've been dropped. You get up, and you win the fight.

"It shows that he is not a global phenomenon, which it is made people, it can be beat. Lomachenko shines against weak opponents, but should he encounter a world champion, as you can see the opportunities to defeat him", said Garcia. The last time a Top Rank Boxing on ESPN card produced a high viewership was the March 10 WBO featherweight title fight between Oscar Valdez and Scott Quigg, which averaged 1.1 million viewers. "I don't know what he's talking about that it would be so hard".

Top Rank's Bob Arum wants to keep Hi-Tech active and has already revealed that his next outing will be in August, potentially against Ray Beltran.
