The Super Eagles of Nigeria have maintained the 47th position in the recently released Federation Internationale de Football Association ranking on Thursday May 17.

This month's rankings were revealed on Thursday, with virtually no worldwide action having taken place over the last four weeks.

Bafana Bafana stay 15th on the African continent with little movement around them‚ but the upcoming COSAFA Cup tournament in the Limpopo province is an opportunity to score points.

Most of the top 50 is unchanged, with Germany, Brazil and Belgium respectively sitting at the summit of the same top ten as last month.

Stuart Baxter's Bafana side recently beat hosts Zambia to win the Four-Nations tournament in March.

The Eagles' 2018 World Cup Group D opponents all maintain their previous spots.

Kenya had dropped three places in the April ranking following poor performances against lowly ranked Comoros and the Central African Republic.

There are no movers inside the world's top 47 places, and therefore Africa's top six remain as they were in April.

The Philippines (111, up 2) attained their best ever position in the FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking due to the Azkals' positive results in recent months - which included qualifying for their maiden AFC Asian Cup.
