Stakes raised for Mourinho-Conte feud in Cup final showdown

Chelsea and Manchester United will be battling it out for English football's historic trophy at Wembley and considering the transfer window opens earlier than usual this year, talkSPORT.com wondered if it was possible for players to be signed in time for the match.

This is despite the club winning a F.A Cup, League Cup and a Premier League title during that period. Mourinho has 20-something trophies - the exact number depends on Community Shields, which the Portuguese adds and others subtract - from his long and successful career.

"If we play like this in the FA Cup final, we don't have a chance".

David Moyes insistence on pumping the ball into the box from wide areas was never likely to endear him to the fans while Louis van Gaal brought with him the dullest brand of football imaginable. But win or lose, Fabregas says he is full of admiration for the man who signed him for Chelsea in 2014, during Mourinho's second spell in charge at Stamford Bridge.

'I think we've become a bit idealistic about what the football was at times under Sir Alex. "We just had a relaxed atmosphere", Cahill told reporters at Chelsea's FA Cup final media day.

"When I was younger I used to get really nervous before games, so much so that you are nearly throwing up", the defender said.

While a feisty final is expected, both sets of players, managers and fans will unite to remember former Chelsea and United midfielder Ray Wilkins whose untimely death last month will be marked by a series of special tributes before kickoff.

With Lingard, Alexis Sanchez, Marcus Rashford or Romelu Lukaku providing pace and movement up front for United and Eden Hazard and Willian doing likewise for Chelsea, Pogba and Fabregas should have plenty of opportunities to play that defence-shredding killer pass. "As soon as a I come back from the World Cup we will sit down, talk and look at the options". "We can't make (the season right) because the Champions League (qualification) is gone. People remember a cup final". We weren't playing at a high level.

The United squad took the train on Wednesday afternoon as they begin preparations to face Chelsea at Wembley this Saturday.
