Instagram Now Lets You Share Feed Posts to Stories

On Thursday, Instagram introduced a new way to share feed posts to your story.

For privacy, there is a limit on the new feature.

In fact, tagging friends through Instagram comments had become so common on the social network over the years, that it rolled out a way to send posts via Direct Messaging as an alternative.

As Instagram explains, whenever you like a post from a friend you can now share that post as a sticker to your Story for your friends and followers to see. While the company offers sharing of posts through private messages, it doesn't allow users to share posts to their feeds. The option also allows anyone looking at your story to see the original poster's username and go to their Instagram page.

The firm made clear this isn't the full regram feature users had lobbied for, but it will enable posts to be shared as Stickers to their Stories.

Re-sharing can only be done from public Instagram accounts, Instagram says. You can rotate, scale, and move the sticker, as well.

Do you think Instagram will ever embrace the regram? There's also an option to opt out of the feature if you don't want other people to share your posts in their Instagram stories. That would give Stories more prominence on the network - though not everyone is thrilled with their takeover.

The new feature is beginning to roll out to Android users today, while iOS users can expect it in the coming days.
