President Donald Trump earned $40.4 million in 2017 from his company's hotel in Washington, D.C., according to his latest financial disclosure statements.

The year before, revenue was $19.6 million. Trump spent that time campaigning for president, as president-elect, and as president.

Earlier this month, an attorney for Trump asked a federal judge to dismiss a lawsuit that argues that the president's acceptance of payments from foreign and state governments at the hotel violates the Constitution. He put his oldest sons, Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump, in charge of the Trump Organization.

But not all of the president's shots landed in the rough. The 2017 report covered 15 and 1/2 months while the 2018 report covered one year. About 60 percent of that came from events by the Republican National Committee. That was a decline from his last report, which showed $288 million in revenue.

Trump International Hotels Management saw a almost 500% growth in income, going from $2.8 million to $17.1 million, while the Trump Turnberry golf resort saw a almost $6 million bump in reported income in this year's financial disclosure. Trump declared under "gifts and travel reimbursements" a $1,150 set of golf clubs and a golf bag from PGA golfer Kevin Steelman, and another $750 set of clubs from PGA golfer Bryson DeChambeau.
