Without trade settlement Europe since June 1, will face US duties on imported steel and aluminum. He also would like to get the best possibilities of access of companies from America to the European market, and from June 1, the US plans to introduce high customs duties on aluminium and steel from the EU.

According to her, the undersea pipeline will allegedly provide Russia with an opportunity to install surveillance equipment beneath the Baltic Sea and may also increase Europe's reliance on Russian natural gas supplies.

Despite taking a hard line against Russian Federation in recent years over its aggression in Ukraine and other matters, Merkel has defended the pipeline project, saying Germany badly needs to secure its gas supplies.

In early may of 2018 in Germany started the construction of Nord stream-2, although not all countries have given permission for the construction of this pipeline.

The gas pipeline project, sharply criticized Ukraine and Central European countries, who believe that its implementation will lead to the actual destruction of the Ukrainian gas transport system.

The US opposes the project because it will increase Europe's reliance on Russian Federation for gas supplies. The only shareholder of the latter is Gazprom.

The $11 billion project is planned to carry 55 billion cubic meters of gas annually 1,230 kilometers under the Baltic Sea from Russian Federation to northern Germany after it becomes operational in early 2020.

Oudkirk said Russian Federation could use the project to place monitoring and listening devices for surveillance under the Baltic Sea, which increases the risk of the pipeline from an intelligence and security point of view.

The Nord Stream 2 project is also raising security concerns and could lead to US sanctions, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Energy Diplomacy Sandra Oudkirk said Thursday in Berlin.

In addition, the European Commission member for energy and climate change Miguel arias Cañete said that the Nord stream-2 is not of priority interest for the gas supply of the European Union.

"But it is much more expensive than pipeline gas, so blocking Nord Stream 2 on its own won't guarantee exports".
